I have Babesiosis and have just been diagnosed with "probable" reversible Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Babesiosis is well known for causing breathing difficulty, as is the Mepron (atovaquone) 750mg twice/day I'm taking. Does anyone else have these same two diagnoses? I smoke, but even the pulmonologist who read the pulmonary function test said he questions COPD as I don't smoke that many cigarettes a day and haven't smoked 10 years or more. (He recommended "clinical interpretation" for a final diagnosis.) My MD is diagnosing me with COPD based on the fact that in the past 8 months (since I've been on the Mepron and another antibiotic for Borrelia/Lyme), I've gotten very severe bronchitis twice. Really appreciate any insight any of you might have.
