Good-day I take 120mg of Morphine Sulpahte 3 times daily for back pain (nerve pain & muscle cramps). I also take Cesamet 2mg 3 times daily (for pain and nausea) and Codeine Phosphate 30mg x 6 tablets daily (for breakthrough pain). I have tried taking my Morphine seperate from Cesamet to try and narrow the cause of the swelling and I find the swelling seems to happen mostly due to morphine. I took 120mg of morphine this morning and within 90mins my nose was swollen shut. It's now coming up on 3 hours since I took the morphine and the swelling is staring to ease so that I can just barely breathe through one nostril. It's not enough so I can breathe but it's so much better than my head almost feeling like it's going to explode outwards And as I type this note my nose is swelling shut then easing. I've been taking this dose of morphine for over 4 years and my doctor has told me I will have to take morphine or some form of Opiate for the rest of my life. Can you maybe suggest a different medication that won't have as bad of side effects that I could discuss with my doctor. Even though I have never ever had to ask my doctor for extra meds or an early refill, I still feel that my doctor is hesitant to discuss other options. People are biased when it comes to these medications as I once was. I saw a documentary where FBI agents were watching a clinic, the officers when seeing a patient said "Well this person doesn't look like they need medication". Maybe the person's meds just happened to be working for them on that day. Who's to say that they didn't spend the next 3 days recouperating and therefore not being seen in pain. This is what I have to live with, I don't go out when pain is bad so to some people I appear as fit as an Olympic Athlete. Please Help
