  • Does lyrica cause neutropenia and if it does, how long does it take to subside after stopping the drug?
The patient is a 28 year old female who has been involved in a horrific car accident back in February 7th 2014. She had bilateral femural fracture along with fractured right tibia and fibula in addition to right humerus. However, to make it short, after treatment, the outcome was not acceptable with various complications. The patient is scheduled for another surgery, however, her CBC shows neutropenia (3.4).
  • I take klonopin and diltiazem (calcium channel blocker blood pressure medicine) and am concerned about side effects. my accupuncturist recommends the ashwagandha. anyone have any issues with this?
I take these prescription medications but have been going to an accupuncturist since 2012. I have trouble sleeping at night without my clonazepam and take naps during the day and am having trouble losing weight. She thinks that my adrenal glands may be fatigued and told me to try something called Adrenal Response which contains Sensoril Ashwagandha. When I looked up Ashwaganda it said that it could interact with the Clonazepam or Klonopin and also with High blood pressure medication. I am a little concerned. I mentioned this to her and she said they both are metabolized by the liver and it should be ok to take it, just to take it an hour or more after I take the Clonazepam. Has anyone had any issues with interactions with their prescribed meds while taking Ashwagandha? I don't want to have to monitor my blood pressure because my blood pressure medication works good for me. Any help would be appreciated because I want to try it but I am a little scared too. Thanks, Crystal
  • I amwondering if i have myathesia gravis (1 answer)
I am thinking that after a long bout of going nowhere with Drs. That I might have Myathesia Gravis. My Grandmother had it and I am thinking that my brother had it when he was born.He failed to thrive at first as he was unable to suck very well. He did make it though with a forced feeding of milk and bananas. He was sickly all his life though and recently died of cancer. I noticed that my eye is drooping on the left side. I have periods of extream fatigue, my left arm is tingly and I can't seem to feed myself without changing to my right hand. I have spinal stenosis and severe pain in my hip area but my right big toe seems to be tingly from time to time. I also have a swallow problem that causes me to choke or throw up the food or drink. Pills stay part way down a lot. My G.I. guy wants to strech my esophegus. I tend to eat soft foods and stay away from steak or anything chewy. I have congestive heart failure, sudden cardiac death, syncope all of which I greatfully managed to survive. I have fibromyalgia, and some nodules on my chest wall ( i forget what that is called) I have had 5 or 6 bouts with Costochrondritus which was way worse than actually having my heart stop. Costo hurts like a beech! I am frequently short of breath, exercize intolerant and have trouble holding my water.I have good dsys and bad days. Also my left hand and the base of my scalp goes all numb and tingly sometimes. There is also a terrible electric shock type feeling in my mid back area that makes me completely stop in my tracks and feel like I have been hit with a 350 lb pro football player. I have been hypokalimic after taking water pills (Ferosimide) i have taken prendisone for the Chosto and feel better immediatly, but I have mental reactions to too much Prendisone. I am very allergic to NSAID'S and pennicillian. Anyone got any ideas that the Drs have maybe not thought of... I would sure like to get better and go dance but the last time I danced I lasted 3 minutes before I had to fall into a chair.
  • Palpitations after taking meds
took my meds last night with in 5 mins my heart rate shot up to 140 bpm an lasted for 15 mins before it came down

  • Experience with morphine and xanax
I take MS contin for back pain, and xanax for anxiety. I was in the heart unit, and they decided to give me my morphine through the central line because I was having a lot of pain. The nurse pushed it in really slow, and afterword they asked me if I wanted my xanax, and I took it as well. 1 mg. I don't know how much morphine they gave me, but i began to hallucinate. I thought was dying..I remember trying to talk but the words wouldn't come out. I thought the nurse was asking me if I believed in Christ, and I said yes I love the Lord. At some point I was sure I had died, but I was calm and peaceful..there were several nurses in the room and I thought omg.. they've been keeping the secret of what happens when you die. I told them I was leaving because I wanted to go out in the hall, I was sure my deceased mother was out there looking for me, so I tried to remove my IV to get out of bed. They stopped me and I remember the nurse saying no its not your time. And I woke up the next morning.
  • Methadone maintenance and lichen planus
Have been on methadone maint. since 1973 (with two brief periods of non use).

Have suffered from Lichen Planus for the last 5 years with slow but steady progression of symptoms. Do not know when exposed to Hep C (IV drug use since 1968)and have been exposed to biohazardous materials from my career (lab director, Senior Microbiologist) since 1975.
  • Nexium and feeling cold (1 response)
I took Nexium (1 40mg capsule) and approximately 45 minutes later, I felt extremely cold. I could not get warm, even though I put on a polartec jacket and sat near a heater.

I also was extremely nauseated at the same time.

About 30 minutes after the incident began, it ended. I no longer was cold and I was no longer nauseated.
  • I got pneumonia while taking topamax, obvious correlation
I do not take all the medicines above all the time but I am using an implanted pump giving me less than 2mg of dilaudid per day, 75 mg effexor daily and usually buspar. Dr prescribed topamax within 4 days I was hospitalized with Pneumonia, stayed a week came home a week had a clear chest x ray and the next week I got it again and was hospitalized 9 days that time. I knew I had been on the med but could not remember the side effect that made me come off previously until i started it again 2 days ago and woke today with Pneumonia again. Last time my pulmonologist said that the med in combination with the antidepressant which is all I take right now relaxes me too much and it paralyzes my choking reflex causing aspiration of saliva and ultimately waking up sick as the bacteria laced fluid goes crazy in the moist conditions of the lungs.

  • Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD)like symptoms to include:
    --specks of light
    --snow & rain affect
    --trails following objects in motion
    --halos or auras
--illusions of motion in a static environment
    --distortions in dimension
    --heightened awareness of motion.
Occurs in dark or semi-dark rooms but clears in light where minor motion and distortion is noted when staring ahead. A mask descends over my face when staring ahead (maybe inner-ocular-lenses affect (cataract surgery)?). In some cases, get affect that I can feel geometric objects and fish-like or distorted objects. Started when given Lamotrigine & Quetiapine. Doctor has increased dosage of Lamotrigin, stopped Quetiapine and added Risperidone: snow/rain effects have significantly increased at night before falling asleep. Severe snow/rain affect occurs when I wake up early in the morning in semi-dark.
