  • Low potasium and mood
While being treated for cancer about 3 years ago and thus taking a number of blood tests, I was diagnosed with low potassium level and prescribed a regular dosage. I had noticed that when I forgot to take my potassium pills, I soon began to feel more depressed than usual and to feel anxious. Taking the ills soon alleviated these symptoms. (I have had depression for most of my life but long ago decided against taking any of the anti-depression Rx pills because I disliked their side effects, especially on my ability to think clearly.) Very recently I finally got around to looking on the Internet to see whether low potassium was associated with mood disorders _ and I found that it was. This site apparently didn't study anyone my age (I'm 78), so I decided to offer these comments. I have at least one grandchild who has been formally diagnosed with depression, and one who is ADHD. Before finding that the relationship of mood and low potassium was formally known, I had suggested to their parent in a low-key way that perhaps she and they should check with their doctors about their potassium levels. Now I'm quite sure that is something they and their doctors should consider. Meanwhile, I am glad to have found formal study of what had been to me only an anecdotal kind of belief that the two were linked. More importantly, in all my years of doctor visits, no doctor and no psychologist has ever mentioned this link to me. Therefore, I hope that somehow this link is brought more to the forefront of medical attention.
  • Zoplicine /and /xanax taken together
I am wondering if zopocline is compatible with Xanax. I have taken the together and had no adverse effects. Has any had this experience?
  • Diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome after mirena
After getting the Mirena put in, I got really sick. I went home and got super dizzy, nauseous, and tired. I felt so sick and could barely function. I called the doctors office and they said it couldn't be from the Mirena. She said that I must have the flu. Well, I kept it in for a little while longer. I then started losing my hair. I went back into my doctors office because they thought I was experiencing the symptoms for the Mirena going through my uterine wall. The ultra sound was fine. She reassured me that the Mirena could not be the cause of my complications. So, a week a later I went to another doctor to have the Mirena taken out.
Never quite felt like myself and a year later I got diagnosedI with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, after a tilt table test was performed. It's weird to me that my symptoms started almost immediately after the Mirena was put in.
  • Mucinex dm and advil congetstion
I noticed another female with simlar age and side effects; and a third female who in addition was under active thyroid. I have taken both drugs independently and had no problem with them. I am prone to low blood pressure & dizziness due to the thyroid problem
  • Seizure patient was on depakote for 16 years now on keppra 1500 mg.
I am 28 years old and been off depakote for 5 months. I started keppra to control my seizure disorder, which works great. But for the past year I have developed osteoarthritis in my thoracic, si joints, and lumbar. I get alot of muscle hypersensitivity and pain. Can any of this be due to long term effects of seizure meds?

  • Bleeding symptoms reduce when off medication for nearly a week. Blood clot type content in loose stool (liquid). blood ranges from very dark to bright in same movement. Amount of blood is concern. There is pain and firm area in between upper pelvic and lower abdomen area that disappears after movement and release of blood. I have had scope tests resulting in small neg pollups, and although have hemorrhoids that may bleed on occasion, stool is loose and no pressure is present at the time on the hemorrhoids

  • I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in Sept. 2012 after 6 yrs. of taking Tramadol 50mg. I had gotten it under control using Red Yeast Rice 200mg 3 times a day, Niacin, and Multi-vitamin with iodine. I was told to eat more fish and add iodized salt to my diet which I had done. Then after starting the Pantoprazole my thyroid test came back showing my TSH and T3 were abnormal again. My doctor had me stop the Pantoprazole. Now I'm starting to think that it's the Tramadol and that the Pantoprazole only made things worse for me. I'm looking into Iodine supplements now to help my thyroid.
