  • From this study (4 years ago):

  • I have been taking 24-hour Zyrtec for 14 years (daily) and due to a recent sinus infection, had to stop taking it to let my sinuses drain. Stayed off the medication for three weeks. I'm back on it again and experiencing some abnormal effects. My hands are aching and sometimes have a burning sensation. It feels like I have a hard time focusing my eyes, or when I do focus, I feel dizzy. This mainly occurs with things I'm looking at up close. I've had nightsweats since I can remember (I'm 27) and lately they have gotten really bad--every night I end up drenched. Could the drug have completely left my system and now I'm having side effects from starting up again? I've missed taking a Zyrtec here and there (once every two+ months) since starting the drug when I was 13, but never had any effects except my allergies and athsma acting up. I'm also concerned becuase I was taking the drug while my body/brain was still developing...could that have caused any effects?
