My Dad has been taking Cordarone (amiodarone) for last one year due to Atrial Fibrillation. Recently, i started giving him R-Alpha Lipoic Acid 200 mg to help him with his Kidney problem. After 10-12 days he got fever and frequent urination. We thought it must be UTI but urine test was negative. CBC should WBC to be normal. I stopped ALA immediately. After 2 days of fever he got atrial fibrillation and almost got a stroke. Doctor prescribed an antibiotic and paracetamol. The problem was resolved after another 3 days. I have a strong feeling that the problem occurred because of drug interaction between ALA and amiodarone.
