  • Prominent issue is chronic pain in neck, middle back, lower right back, right hip and chest. Started four years ago after dinner with pain in the chest. Over the next month or two the pain progressed to the right side of chest and then two right shoulder blade, over to the spine and then up to the neck and then down the spine and over to right hip. Pain has been there ever since. Numerousssss tests, doctors, medications, etc, but no one can find anything. Prior to this I was on no medications or had any health issues. The only possible physical link could be from a car wreck that occured about two years earlier. Bad case of whiplash. Current MRIs,CT Scan and Xrays do not show anything significant. Recently started seeing a Psychiatrist to see if it may be something related to stress, etc. Due to the problems I was having from the pain the doctor tried me on Adderall XR which has helped me tremendously. I can now put in a semi-productive work day. Primary doctor had me on celexa to help with stress, anxiety, etc. Psychiatrist increased Celexa from 20mg to 40mg but no improvment. Added 60mg Cymbalta and reduced Celexa back to 20mg. Still no change. Increased Cymbalta to 120mg and dropped Celexa. Doctor was trying the Cymbalta for the chronic pain. After 2 weeks at 120mg, sweats and hot flashes started getting worse and severe morning diahrea started. After 5 weeks I reduced to 60mg to see if that would help the side affects. After 2 weeks at 60mg still no major improvement on side affects. The biggest surprise is my pain has gotten worse since starting Cymbalta which is requiring more pain medications. The first hour after getting up in the morning is hell. I dont recall mornings ever being this bad. I take my medications and then have to sit down for an hour until everything kicks in. I dont know if its some sort of withdrawal, side affect, etc.??

I am sure that cymbalta is the cause of a soft tissue neck pain on the left side. I know because when I increase cymbalta it gets worse. At 30 mg daily I am ok. The cymbalta helps upper back pain. Dr. did an mri on head and neck and found nothing. But if I take 60 mg. cymbalta in one day it gets worse. I have had injury to upper back and neck but it isn't that kind of pain. This is severe soft tissue pain in an area about the size of half of my hand. Sometimes it radiates a little bit into my shoulder. I have experimented enough to know for sure that it is the cymbalta. The Cymbalta also makes me very hot and makes me sweat, which is completely uncharacteristic for me. Nothing helps the neck pain, except hard pressure on the area. Anybody else have neck pain FROM cymbalta?? I also developed high blood pressure after starting cymbalta, after a lifetime of very low blood pressure.
