From this study (4 years ago):
Stroke is attributed to use of Boniva - also caused my blood pressure (which is normally 127/40 - I am petite and they have to us a pediatric cuff for my blood pressure measurement, with a height of 5' tall) to skyrocket to 178/60.
They now have me on heparin for embolism prophylaxis, Lipitor 40 mg and Ecotrin 81 mg. Prior to the institution of Boniva I was only on Synthroid
175 mcg daily and calcium with Vitamin D. I continue to have severe heart palpitations in which my heart feels as if it would leap out of my chest. I would experience the heart palpitations every day for the entire month that I was on the Boniva. I never had this prior to institution of Boniva. My doctor, in fact, told me they would go away, however, this never happened, and look what happened.
To note, I was hospitalized for one week, ended up in ICU, and then was transferred to Cardiac ICU.
