From this study (3 weeks ago):
Depression a bit better but not a lot. Memory lapses since taking cymbalta. Tried to very slowly stop (from 60mg every day to 60 one day and 30 one day, but dizziness and that "head in an vise " feeling got much more pronounced and I moved back to 60 every day. I would ilke to stop cymbalta but seems so difficult if not impossible due to side effects.
From this study (1 year ago):
Gallbladder had to be removed. Topamax made me loose 40 pounds, vomiting, nausea. Took 2 months to wean off. I'm a tall woman and went down to 105 pounds trying to wean off topamax. Been off it 4 months. Was still loosing weight and couldn't hold liquid or food down. My color was becoming greyish and I looked dead. Had to be carried around house, couldn't walk since I'd not been able to eat in 3 months plus the 2 months of weaning. Was tested and had muscle tissue coming out of my urine. No idea what exactly caused the biliary dyskenisia with gallbladder enlarged and test showed ejection rate of 0%. So had to have surgery.
Topamax is bad stuff.
Now cymbalta caused major insomnia and increased depression. Been weaning off that, finally got to 0mg three days ago. The withdrawals I'm experiencing now and since stepping down have included moodiness, irritability, increased anxiety and depression. Brain or electrical zaps through my brain, dizzy to the point I can't even lift my head up. Disassociation from everyone, even feelings of unreality. Sweats , chills, fever, you name it, this drug will give you the worst experience of your life weaning off. I have failed three previous times to get off because I couldn't handle the withdrawals I was going through. Cymbalta is really bad stuff too. Once you're on it, you can't get off because death seems easier than the last 3 weeks of weaning off and am still having even worse full effects. Makers of topamax and cymbalta should be sued. These two drugs, and I've been on many over the years are by far the worst experiences of my life and it still won't go away. So now I'm post op after being hospitalized for 10 days then had the surgery. Reason for admission from ER to inpatient was written by the hospital as failure to thrive. Could be because I was carried in looking nearly dead. I have never experienced such severe issues with these two meds out of all the ones I've been on in the past.
Jess on Feb, 17, 2013:
About a month ago my father was taken off of klonopin cold turkey in a psychiatric hospital. Two days later he was discharged and sent home to me. I am a stay at home mom with a one year old. After a week of terrible withdrawals and no help from the two hospitals in the area that I reached out to he attempted suicide. On the evening of January 23 I was lying in bed with him trying to calm him down. When he started snoring at 1130 I went upstairs to bed with my husband. At midnight we heard an awful noise outside of out window and I ran outside to find him on his knees chugging mouthwash. When I lifted up his shirt I saw two huge stab wounds with his intestines coming out. He is still in the trauma unit. We have spoken to countless healthcare professionals who are all very aware of benzo withdrawal. I don't understand how our government can regulate so many things yet this continues to plague our mental health care. In other countries, doctors are not able to prescribe benzos for more than 2 weeks. This needs to change. Please seek help if you are gong through benzo withdrawal
