Can you answer these questions (Ask a question):

  • 8 year old boy has erratic heartbeat. started tamiflu last week. do i need to quit tamiflu? he had a 104.1 temp when we started treatments.
Shortly after being dosed with Tamiflu this morning, he had a very erratic heartbeat. He is positive for influenza last Thursday and has been on Tamiflu since and Ibuprofen to manage fever (was up to 104.1 last week). Local clinic wants to see him. I don't feel like taking him there will solve anything. Its returned to normal within an hour of dosing with Tamiflu.
  • I tested positive for methadone, i have never taken this drug (1 answer)
I tested positive for methadone, I have never taken this drug. My Dr said I had to have taken it because it was there and that a false positive is out of the question. Could my meds cause methadone to show up on a urine drug test
  • Can augmentin cause caridac arrest 2 days after stopping taking it?
Augmentin and Cardiac arrest - My husband (46) always perfectly healthy, took Augmenin 875 for 4 days after a dental treatment. 2 days after completing taking it, while running 6 km on the beach in the early morning, he collapsed with a Cardiac arrest (ventricular fibrillation). Luckily he was saved by a doctor with a defibriallator who was nearby. All the tests they run in the hospital show that his heart is very healthy and that he doesn't have any heart diseases. They are suggesting "Brugada Syndrom" but I'm not convinced. His late mother had a terrible allergy to Augmentin and almost died from it and his late father also had an allergy to Penicillin, so does his sister. When I suggested that the Augmentin might be the cause which led to the Cardiac arrest his doctors said it's not possible. I'll be glad to hear your opinions. Thanks, Michele
  • Is it safe to take demerol while taking tramadol hydrochloride and hydroxychloroquine (2 answers)
I am experiencing acute, debilitating pain due to the Chikungunya virus, which has reintroduced all of the previous painful symptoms I have, ongoing and in the past, from Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, tendonitis and severe headaches. It's in its 38th day and I am basically crippled from neck to feet. Have to sleep propped up as arms throb with pain when horizontal. The only thing that has subdued the pain slightly are Oxycocet and Ibuprofen, but the pain never goes away. My hands and feet are so inflammed it's difficult to perform even the smallest tasks of personal hygiene and housekeeping. I have difficulty controlling my bladder and often don't make it to the washroom in time. Just started on Demerol today so will no longer take the Oxycocet, but am concerned of the interactions with Demerol, Hydroxychloroquine and Tramadol Hydrochloride extended release tablets that I take daily for the Fibromyalgia and Arthritis. I have dealt with a great deal of pain through the years, but I now have the pain of every serious illness I have had in my lifetime, all at the same time. I honestly didn't think a person could deal with this much pain at once. I have tried and am still taking several vitamins and herbal supplements as well as drinking tons of water and eating really well. Lots of berries, dark vegetables, apples, yogurt and minimal meat. Taking turmeric, papaya leaf, ginger, cinnamon and boswellia for the inflammation. Taking minimal wheat products, sugar and no alcohol. Also, drinking green, fennel and nettle tea daily. I know this is a lot of information, but I really need help and wonder if anyone has any suggestions! Thanking you in advance!!!
  • Is ibuprofen safe to use if i have retinitis pigmentosa?
I have bulging disc pain that I use Ibuprofen for. I can be pain free for weeks/months and take nothing. When I have a flair up I can take up to 8x200mg per day. I have heard this may affect my RP. Can you advise?

  • Understanding and living with cancer
After having one treatment of Gemzar, I had a severe reaction, which caused me to have many seizures. This caused me to developed PRES, which in turn has caused me to have brain damage. When I came out of my induced coma I did not know where I was, nor did I know who my family members were. I could not bathe myself, drive, my speech was broken, I could not add two plus two. I was not the woman I was before Gemzar treatment. Now I am unable to work, I am unable to live on my own, I must always be in the company of another person. I have lost my home and car and job due to this condition. I am currently in speech therapy and soon will start occupational therapy (which is VERY costly) This month marks the one year anniversary of this condition for me. I am making progress. I am able to bathe myself, I can do a little cooking, (although the first time I tried I caught the kitchen on fire a little), I am still living with my Mother , as she is my care taker, my nurse, my driver, my chef, my house cleaner. I currently receive disability. My student loans have gone into default. I could go on but I am depressing myself. I am, followed by my Oncologist every two months now.I want to share this information to anyone and everyone who can benefit from this information.

    Thank you, Chelette Williams, BA,MBA.
