From this study (3 days ago):
My son began having autistic tantrums at school & would pound his head on the floor; neurologist prescribed Celexa to stop self-injurious behavior. After 2 years, doctor changed prescription to Lexapro. Experienced pain in feet/lower legs upon standing/walking more than 1 hour. Age 11 (2006), nerve disfunction began (said his feet felt "sparkly"). I noticed left leg bowing out at knee when he walked down stairs. Began severe muscle spasms when laid down to go to sleep. The spasms/nerve pain became severe & increased difficulty falling/staying asleep. Spasms continued through 1st 1-2 hours of sleep; spasms drew his leg/legs up like a frog. Slept through spasms; they occurred every night & followed a full-body "jerk". Spasms always occurred on the left, & right leg would draw up into a frogleg position. Doctor added Seroquel for severe insomnia. Podiatrist diagnosed shortened achiles tendons in feet/ankles. 6 months after the spasms began, left foot began to change & severe episodes of memory loss occurred(he did not where he was, who he was or who his teachers, classmates, or I were). Would scream & hit his head with his fists. Doctor suspected ALD; tests were negative. W/in 4 months (age 12), left foot deformed into clubfoot/calf smaller. Diagnosed w/spasticity, dystonia, cerebral palsy. Since achiles tendon/club foot developed, can't stand/walk more than 20-30 minutes without foot/leg pain. Doctors suspect neuromuscular disorder but have not diagnosed specific type. 2008-2009, had botox injections in calves but treatment stopped working. Had 2 foot surgeries in 2009 to reposition left foot & release achiles tendon. Left foot much shorter, wider & thicker than right. Developed dystonia/spasticity in forearms/hands 2008. Taking Tizanidine and Mirapex for help control/lesson the spasming & nerve disfunction since 2008. Weaned off Seroquel & Lexapro (2011/2012), because Seroquel made drowsy/caused Acanthosis nigricans; Lexapro made confused.

Once I was out of the medication and I almost screamed because the ringing got so bad! I don't think it is as "rare" ...
