I am 69 years old and have being taking Lipitor for 2-1/2 years. I have always being troubled with UTI's but in the last 2-1/2 years have had repeated problems, averaging about one every 3 months. I have just begun researching the medications I am taking to see if medications could be contributing to the problem. I also am taking Losartan, Omeprazole, Tramadol nd Eszopiclone. I have seen an Urologist twice with no results.
I have been on Protonix for 7 years ever since I had a severe heart attack at which time I started to bleed out from 13 ulcers I did not know I had because of the clot buster drug they had given me. I almost died and would have, had after being scoped 3 times, they not found and stopped the ulcers from bleeding From that point on I was told I MUST be on Protonix, not Nexium as it was the only drug that did not interfere with the blood thinner, Plavix, I had to be on. Since then I have had two kidney stones removed (12) and still have a (5) in my lower pole I have had numerous bladder infections. Also had second heart attack 2 years ago--I am a female and 74 years old and never in my life till 5 years ago (2 years after being on protonix) have I had a kidney stone and even the urologist thought it unusual that they would start this late in life and this suddenly--Could it be Protonix? Who knows, but think I am stopping it.
