  • Elavil, 25mg @ night stopped an 11 month chronic headache after a head injury, I sustained 1 1/2 years ago.
Additionally, Neurologist prescribed 100 mg Lyrica for chronic back/nerve pain from moderate/severe spinal injuries, sustained 20+ years earlier. (Crushed/cracked verabrae and 3 intervertebral disc bulges)
I had been using Ibuprofen daily in moderate to heavy dosage for the last 20+ years. (800+ mg daily B/4 and then continually after recent head injury)
I was advised to stop/reduce use of Motrin to 1/2 month or less. It is still the best pain relief but have reduced to PRN, perhaps 200 mg alternate days.
Since treatment with Lyrica I've noticed reduced nerve pain and stopped using Elavil for sake of not feeling so "wrecked" in the mornings. I have also developed a severe sleep apnoea, treated unsuccessfully via CPAP device which is unbearable to use. I have subsequently suffered with depression/mood disorder for 20+ years and am currently un-treated for this long-standing vulnerability which came back with a vengence after the head-injury. I feel irregularity to my heart beat by the end of the day. I feel suicidal and violently angry.

Found this because I have similar symptoms- brain injury 2005, 12 herniated discs with osteophytes, migraines, seizures and the like. 1. The Motrin is an easy fix. Swap it out for Mobic (Meloxicam). I replaced 1600mg/day for 12mg Mobic and it's easier on the stomach. 2. The Evril and Lyrica taken together causes dizziness. Get a different antidepressant or swap the Lyrica for Neurontin (gabapentin). I had to because I couldn't stand up without passing out. 3. The B/4 I'm stumped on as its not approved for use in the United States but I know it can help with seizures but a friend of mine tells me it makes her sick. 4. Waking up at night. No where in your medication is a pain reliever or muscle relaxer for your back. An anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen will not cut it when you lay on it. Get both, whether low level like Flexoril and Hydrocodone, or if needed Soma and Methadone. Something is needed to relieve the pain on your back which, can also cause the headaches. 5. Anger - A head injury can cause an inability to control ones emotions, even reacting inappropriately (wrong emotion or too much emotion) in circumstances. If this is the case, treat yourself as a toddler and try to relearn how to react (counting to 10, timeouts) and informing loved ones this is going on. Another thing is that you may have Marijuana rage. This is something I thought was untrue until my brother-in-law stabbed his wife's hand with a fork for being near him while smoking with his buddies. Just as there are angry drunks, there are angry pot heads and TBI can change how you react.

To start with I have no family history of any cancer on either side of my family. Back in 2009, when I was a 58 year old male(non-smoker) I had an angiogram performed but no significant, blockages were discovered. My Doctor put me on Zocor (Simvastatiin & Niacin)to prevent problems in the future. Now last year during a routine test my Doctor found protiens in my blood and proceeded to do more tests. After doing a bone marrow operation I was told I had Multipule Myeloma (30%). After doing some research I found that Simvastatin was suspected in impeeding the immune system allowing this MM to develop. I stopped taking the Zocor and had blood tests taken every month afterwards and the protien level kept going down. They are now down to .1% for over six months. Now I have been told I no longer have Multipule Myeloma and have been told it is smoldering myeloma. Now I have been taking Omega fish oil and niacin tablets instead.
I think they need to do more testing on these drugs before they are given to the general public.

Have you ever had a fall or injure to the head? (I never had it) but I can relate to you. Because I had a dog that gave birth to these 5 puppies. One of the puppies that I gave away later had continues epilepsy. I later found out that the dog's owner abuse her a lot (hitting in the head.) But none of other 5 or the mom or dad had it (I own the mom & dad). The owner ended up giving the dog away to get killed. I had to go the shelter to take the dog back. One thing I noticed that the dog would get seizure whenever she heard loud noises (like my mom yelling) couple hours prior that. May be you could try to figure out if there was any pattern that could help you to prevent the seizures from happening. Some people think it's silly but one thing helps me going through difficult times is to focus on the positives by listening to the audio "The Secret" & "The Power" from Rhonda Burne. I hope you can get cured soon; miracles do happen. I wish you all the best.
