  • Diagnosed with fibromyalgia 16 yrs ago following an epidural during child birth - back when they referred patients with wide spread pain to a rheumatologist and thought you were nuts. Since those initial, very frustrating first few years of suffering, I was fortunate enough to find Drs who knew it was real and began treating my pain with methadone. Hv been taking methadone for @ 15 yrs. Developed high blood pressure @ 10 yrs ago. Just wondering if long term use of methadone can cause high blood pressure.

Yes the methadone can cause high blood pressure over time after a tolerance build up. if your doctor was to increase your medication; methadone there is a high probability that your blood pressure would return to normal.

  • I was reading information about methadone (i just started 1 wk.ago) and i came acrossa paralytic ileus. Some of the symptoms are constipation, abdominal distention, nausea and vomiting. Which i experience all 4. I have a bowel movement once maybe every 2 wks. Its extremely painful. Its not normal in color, consistency or size. My abdomin/stomach looks and feels enlarged and inflammed. To push on the lower part of my abdomin where my intestines are, as well as my bowels its extremely hard and hurts to put pressure. Ive tried taking stool softners, laxatives and even drank magnesium citrate. I dont know what i should do!help please!!
