- Terrible excessive sweating from hydrochlorothiazide
I guess I fit the profile of who gets excessive sweating from HCTZ. I am a 65 year old female and suffered from excessive sweating for two years. With just very little exertion, I would pour sweat from the top of my head. It would run into my face and all over my hair. My hair would be ringing wet. I had heavy perspiration in the groin area and down my back also. I had to change clothing 2-3 times a day and wash up or shower that many times also. The doctor tried changing my Cymbalta and put me on Wellbutrin instead. It did absolutely no good. I went off the wellbutrin and back onto the Cymbalta. I did some research and saw that HCTZ could cause excessive sweating. Both my doctor and my pharmacist said that they had never heard of that. I went off the HCTZ, and my sweating stopped almost immediately. My doctor and my pharmacist were very surprised. I'm one of those people who frequently have different reactions to drugs than are typical. If you're having excessive perspiration and are on HCTZ, try going off of it. It just may be the culprit!
- Hydrochlorothiazide made me pour sweat
Hydroclorothiazide made me absolutely pour sweat for two years. My doctors could not find out what was causing the problem. It took little exertion for me to start dripping sweat. My hair would be absolutely soaked...especially in the summer, but if I was cleaning house in the winter also. I finally did my own research and proposed to my doctor that HCTZ was the problem. He did not agree with me, but agreed to let me go off of it for a short time. The profuse sweating stopped almost immediately.
- Metoprolol tartate* bad side effects
This drug caused me to gain 25 pounds, it caused depression, exhaustion, vivid dreams, joint pain, personality changes, I walk/jog frequently and could no longer jog at all. At one point I had vision problems, things would "jump" so badly that I couldn't drive (I am not sure what that was, they said whatever it was it was not my eyes. Confusion, memory problems. I think my infrequent SVTs were made worse. It made my life a living hell. My children finally said that if I didn't do something they would! I found a new Dr. and I was taken off of it and a review of all my original cardiac tests came back totally normal and I didn't need it anyway. And the only way I would ever take this medicine is if it were a last resort. There are other drugs that would have worked that have a lot less side effects. A cardiac nurse told me that Metoprolol is one of the worst for side effects. My husband has serious heart issues and was put on this med..I have noticed a lot of the same changes in him and I will work to have them change his medication also.
- Olfactory issues due to metformin use
I've found that the metformin does not smell especially bad, but when I first started taking it, I could smell something horrible - to the point where I pulled apart my cupboards and fridge, fully expecting to find some maggot-riddled rotting meat. Eventually I realized I was smelling normal smells as hideous. I was on metformin 1/2 pill twice daily for a month, then a full pill twice daily. After about a month of that, I went off metformin for a week, being out of town without my prescription. When I resumed, that night I thought my husband had hideous breath. After we both brushed our teeth, nothing has changed. I recognized the rotting meat smell from my previous experience, and this is when I decided to cross reference metformin and olfactory issues.
- Metoprolol & lisinopril, vs. carvedilol, lisinopril and warfarin
Lisinopril 25mg provokes horrific depression, despair, inability to navigate back to upbeat, creative state and fear for survival. Dizziness, crippling vertigo, etc every time I move from rest. Reducing dose to 2.5mg makes side effects tolerable, with no noticeable change in therapeutic effect.
Carvedilol caused renal failure, edema, coughing, panic-inducing painful allergic skin rashes, necrosis, healing took weeks where it had taken a day or less. Unable to walk up or odnw stairs unaided. Fell a lot Vision blurred, especially at night and when seeking perspective : driving.
Warfarin made me feel like my body was made up of burdens foreign matter. Contraindicated diet was a blow to my post-domestic-violence, with sexual assaults, fragile ego, and capped the hopelessness triune of impacts.
Metoprolol has caused awful heartburn since the first dose, with bloating and gas. Heartburn begins 12hrs after eating, very late at night. It keeps me from most activities. Very painful. Digestive upset I thought was from IV radiation / imaging seems to be metoprolol's doing.

From this study (2 weeks ago):
I have had 2 ocular migraines with elevated blood pressure this month. Could it be the Zantac? I took one last night for heartburn and had an ocular migraine this morning. Lately I have had a lot of flushing of the face and wake up with my face flushed in the morning although my blood pressure has been normal. I have had heartburn since taking the Lopressor and Norvasc and that is why I started on the Zantac OTC. I used to have ocular migraines about 30 years ago and they were related to decongestants.
Carmie on Jan, 26, 2015:
I am wondering if any of the above drugs could be causing my flashing lights type migraine. I do not have any severe pain with this. Could it be drug interaction and which one is causing the flushing of the face and heartburn. It did not start until I started the Lopressor and Norvasc.
