Hi. I'm a 60 yr old male, happily married, grown children, 40 years of degenerative spine disorders and surgeries (2 neck fusions, 2 lumbar surgeries with no fusions) and pretty severe, often life-limiting chronic pain. Have taken a lot of meds over the yrs, presently (and hopefully very briefly) taking oxycontin for post-surgical pain for C4-T1 fusion June 2016. Recently was prescribed Zanaflex for severe muscle spasms. I've never used it before, but have used many other muscle relaxers and rarely found them helpful. I've taken Neuron tin on many occasions and recently ramped up to a 3,000 mg dose to aid in weaning off the oxycontin. Hoping the Zanaflex will help in the tapering off opioid as well. Have never found Neurontin to help much with pain, and now concerned at some reports that interactions between it and Zanaflex can actually increase pain. I would be grateful for insights on the use of Neurontin and Zanaflex together, but also look forward to participating in a pain support group. I have nearly 40 years of insights to lend, and I am always seeking the insights of others who share the general condition of chronic pain, regardless of the origin. Thank you.
