I've been where you are, and I've discovered 2 suicide victims. Death by drug overdose does not entail going to sleep as most people have been led to believe by TV, etc. You will choke to death on your own vomit by enhaling it into your lungs. You will die slowly and struggle for breathe while vomiting. Your bowels and bladder will collapse and be excreted and you will die in a pool of your own body fluids with vomit coming out of your mouth. I understand and have a point of reference for your suicidal thoughts/plans. Go to a phone book, look up "mental health" or google... Mental Health AND insert your home town, state here"... Call the number and just say, "I need help." They'll take over from there. If you are too paralyzed with depression to move and you have a friend/ family member - call them, approach them, look in their eyes and tell them to find help for you and drive you there. OR... the easier and quickest way - if you want to die, then its an emergency - Please! call 911, and tell them "I need help. I think I'm going to commit suicide." They will come to you and take you for help. You can ride this wave of depression and you CAN RECOVER, although you need help to do it. I've hit 4 major sunamis (sp) over a 40 year period. It takes less work to get well and feel better than it takes to struggle with the endless argument going on in your head. Please let me know you are going to be okay.

My wife and mother of our 2 children committed suicide with the walgreens equivalent of benadryl 2 days before her 42nd birthday on Sept 9th of 2012. They don't know exactly how much she took but the death certificate cites "toxic effects of diphenhydramine" as the cause of death. I found her the next morning and from the look on her face it didn't look like a "peaceful" way to go. A lot of this over the counter stuff is poison in small doses. Look to homeopathic treatments folks.

I did call the Suicide Prevention Helpline.
They helped a lot, & I stopped thinking about
Killing myself, At least for the time being.
I now found a lump in my right breast and go for
A mammogram next week. The doctor is
mildly concerned but we won't know anything
until the results come back. Maybe I won't
have to take my life, the cancer will do it
for me. I've always told my parents if I do
Ever get cancer, I'll do surgery but no chemo
Therapy or radiation. That is how I still feel.
Just keep me comfortable as much as possible
and let me die at home.

I'm thinking about suicide since I've screwed up my life and those of the ones around me. I'm wanting to take Klonopin, Percocet, Seroquel, and OxyContin. I want to be talked out of it but at this point I see no other option. I'm depressed, my family says they love me, but I don't see it. What can I do? I think this is a cry for help, but I'm not sure.

drugs had everything to do with her suicide. 5 year addiction is next to impossible to quit, it cant be done alone. death is welcome when the addict realizes they are no longer feeling good from the drug but have to take it to stay well. opiod sickness from not having it is the worst sickness you can get, and can kill you by itself. when it comes down to not being able to afford the drugs your body needs and facing withdrawl, death seems to be the easier way out. it's sad but true, one needs not be depressed or irrational, it's a decision an addict makes when they convince themselves that life is not worth the pain and horror that withdrawal wrecks the body with. they see that their life is worthless and they screwed up big time with no other way out. it's a trap that good people get caught in all the time. I blame the medical / pharmacutical industry in this country.

My sister committed suicide 6 months ago. Her motives remain very unclear, but she had been taking a combination of Oxycontin, Percocet and other opioids over the past 5+ years. Although she denied abusing the drugs, and we have no proof of that, it does seem possible. Toxicology reports showed levels of the drug consistent with her prescription at the time of death. Do you have any insight as to how the drugs may have played a role? Is suicide risk greater when someone has cut back their use? Thank you for any info you have.
