LizlEmon on Jan, 24, 2014:
I'm a 28 year old female and have noticed the metallic taste twice now. I was describing it as a sage or pine-like taste but metallic also fits.
Both times I have taken NyQuil liquid gel tablets I wake up around 3 or 4 a.m and notice the overhwelming taste and realize it was what woke me. The taste is coming from my throat rather than my mouth
The first time it happened I thought it was a random incident but last night the experience repeated itself and it is very clear it is the NyQuil. I won't be taking it again as the taste keeps me from falling back asleep.
I don't have any of the health conditions described above but am taking a low dose of Wellbutrin.

I am currently taking Erythromycin Base 500 MG tablets (1 tab, 3 times a day) for a tooth infection. I know from previous use the metallic taste will disappear after I stop taking the drug. I tend (and my Doc is aware) to take only 2 a day, but still have icky metallic taste in my mouth. If it didn't help the infection, I wouldn't take it (I'm allergic to penicillin). As of right now, the migraine is mild, but still uncomfortable. The itching is my neck and groin.
