  • I have experienced hearing loss within the past 8 years and wondered if it had to do with medications I have taken. I have taken others during that time including Abilify, Trileptal, Effexor. I recently have noticed a decrease in my hearing.

  • Was given the combination of diethylpropion and topamax. After one to two weeks I developed an extremely dry and terrible burning sensation in my mouth, lips and tongue combined with a very salty and metallic taste in my mouth. I have had every test from various drs., including an ENT, gastroenterologist, internist, dentist. Several prescribed medications from oral rinses, yeast medications, gabapentin, lozenges, capsasin, and finally Klonopin, which worked for approximately one month, but the burning and salty metallic taste returned as badly as ever. I AM GOING INSANE. Can you offer me any help. I also use sensodyne toothpaste and oral rinse for dry mouth. I feel extremely thirsty all the time. And, yes I've been tested for and do not have diabetes. This has been ongoing since February 2013. I am absolutely convinced one of the two drugs, or the combo of the two caused this as I was perfectly fine, other then being fat. My drs. look at me as if I'm crazy when I mention this fact. It is so frustrating to be treated in this manner. Thank you.

It is the topomax. The thirst, that horrible taste in your mouth, tingling in your hands and feet...They are all side effects that I have had after years...I have been taking it for seizures and migraines for a while now.

    Have they ever diagnosed you?
I have had BMS for 4.5 years, and other symptoms are slowly added to it, such as Tingling hands & feet and sore throat. Now my teeth also tingle, and hurt.
Have you ever been tested for Heavy Metals (the proper way: pre & post provocation, not just blood test) and for Lyme Disease? Lastly for MTHFR?
I have not been treated successfully yet, but hoping to be soon.
