Iv been on effexor xr for 2 yrs. I am a female age 40 I tapered down from 150 Mg to 75 Mg over a two month period. Suddenly I developed severe agoraphobia. I had not ever had anything like this prior. I had some minor issues but nothing to this degree. I could not even take a shower. I felt so bad i was afraid to be seen in public for fear of someone seeing how sick I was and me winding up in a mental hospital. I did not want to be alone at all. My doctor added 5 then 10 Mg of lexapro it helped me but I had to stop the lex apro due to some side effectts. Now im back to square one. He offered ability to help me thrum until I can get off the effexor but I do not want to take a medicine like that. I don't understand why this has happened to me all I know is effexor has ruined mine and my family's life.

Effexor has horrible withdrawl symptoms!! Use caution when deciding to use this drug as I have experienced nausea, dizzyness, extreme tiredness, brain zaps, headaches when trying to wean off it! I would strongly recommend seeking an alternative to this drug!
