I have Primary Progressive MS. Ampyra was prescribed to me by my neurologist in March of 2017. I did notice gait improvement early on. By Sept. of 2017 I started having gastric discomfort that worsened. Insomnia and fatigue followed along with worsening gait disturbance. I had a complete GI workup by a gastroenterologist, results neg. My neurologist told me to take a probiotic which did not work. In Dec. of 2017 I stopped Ampyra and within 24 hrs. felt much better gastric issues relieved, mostly. Gait disturbance greatly increased and I did not feel well. Interestingly, I had no urinary issues, but very fatigued. IN Jan. of 2018 I saw my primary care doctor who ordered bloodwork. H e called that evening telling me to go to the ER immediately. My Hg was 6 and GFR (kidney function) 12. After a week in the hospital all tests were neg. and Amprya listed as cause of acute kidney injury. I had no history of kidney disease myself or family. I am 72 year old female and had been on Ampyra 8 months. In a few weeks I will have a fistula in my arm for possible dialysis. Routine bloodwork done in April of2017 was completely normal, GFR of 60. I would see more warnings and bloodwork ordered before and at intervals during first year of any patient ordered Ampyra.
