Acth and Zonegran drug interactions - a phase IV clinical study of FDA data
Summary:
Drug interactions are reported among people who take Acth (corticotropin) and Zonegran (zonisamide). Common drug interactions include convulsion among females and drug ineffective among males.
The phase IV clinical study analyzes what interactions people have when they take Acth and Zonegran. It is created by eHealthMe based on reports of 20 people who take the same drugs from the FDA, and is updated regularly.
What is Acth?
Acth has active ingredients of corticotropin. eHealthMe is studying from 5,402 Acth users. Check the latest studies of Acth.
What is Zonegran?
Zonegran has active ingredients of zonisamide. It is often used in epilepsy. eHealthMe is studying from 6,211 Zonegran users. Check the latest studies of Zonegran.
20 people who take Acth and Zonegran together, and have interactions are studied.

What are the common drug interactions of Acth and Zonegran, by gender? *:
female:
- Convulsion (muscles contract and relax rapidly and repeatedly, resulting in an uncontrolled shaking of the body)
- Irritability
- Abnormal behaviour
- Cardiomyopathy (weakening of the heart muscle)
- Drug ineffective
- Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia (fungal infection of the lungs)
- Pneumonia streptococcal (pneumonia, caused by streptococcus pneumoniae)
- Pneumothorax (the presence of air or gas in the cavity between the lungs and the chest wall, causing collapse of the lung)
- Somnolence (a state of near-sleep, a strong desire for sleep)
- Asthenia (weakness)
male:
- Drug ineffective
- Lethargy (tiredness)
- Conjunctival oedema (conjunctival swelling)
- Convulsion (muscles contract and relax rapidly and repeatedly, resulting in an uncontrolled shaking of the body)
- Glaucoma (increased fluid pressure in the eye with vision loss)
- Open angle glaucoma (an eye disease that gradually steals vision)
- Papilloedema (optic disc swelling)
- Red eye
- Weight increased
- Drug effect decreased
What are the common drug interactions of Acth and Zonegran, by age (0-1 to 60+)? *:
0-1:
- Cardiomyopathy (weakening of the heart muscle)
- Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia (fungal infection of the lungs)
- Haematochezia (passage of stools containing blood)
- Haematuria (presence of blood in urine)
- Hemiparesis (weakness on one side of the body)
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Irritability
- Lacrimation increased
- Movement disorder (neurological syndromes where they may be excess of movement or a paucity of movement that is not connected to weakness)
- Muscle spasms (muscle contraction)

The study uses data from the FDA. It is based on corticotropin and zonisamide (the active ingredients of Acth and Zonegran, respectively), and Acth and Zonegran (the brand names). Other drugs that have the same active ingredients (e.g. generic drugs) are not considered. Dosage of drugs is not considered in the study.
