Diagnosed in Dec 2012 with stage 4 breast cancer, no other diagnosis prior. It had mets to my bones, liver, lungs and uterous at onset. Not a lot of hope was voiced. It is now 2015, nearly 3 years later and I am still here. I was initially placed on hormone blocker Anastrazole which worked for 18 months, tumor counts stayed down. Then they started to rise so I was placed on a chemo pill that did nothing for the tumor counts so they added Afinitor which cause severe mouth soars, could not eat and became extremely ill. Then March 2015 was given intravenous treatment of Adriamycin and Cytoxen - ended up with heart failure and in hospital. Next month tried Taxotere and Cytoxin and had lung and heart failure. Got sever (sepsis) infection around lung and heart and was in hospital for 13 days, nearly died (so they said). I was too sick to be concerned. The past five months I have been on and off Abranxan, which causes neuropathy that affects the bowels and bladder. So now I am starting Gemzar.
I have stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. After 12 treatments with Gemzar/Abraxane, I developed severe pneumonitis and had to discontinue treatment. After treatment with steroids, another chemo regimen will be started.
